Online Physics Tuition
At Phys Assist Tutoring, I provide specialist online Physics tuition for students studying GCSE, IGCSE, A-level and International A Level (IAL).
Whether you need help understanding a difficult topic, improving your confidence with calculations, preparing for an examination or aiming for the highest grades, tuition is tailored to your individual needs and examination specification.
With over 20 years of teaching experience, including experience as a Head of Science and as a GCSE and A-level examiner, I understand both the Physics students need to know and how to apply that knowledge successfully in examinations.
What I Offer
GCSE & IGCSE Physics Tuition
Individual support with the Physics content of GCSE and IGCSE courses. Sessions can focus on strengthening understanding, tackling difficult topics, developing mathematical and practical skills, or preparing for examinations.
Tuition is tailored to the student's examination specification, with particular experience of WJEC and Pearson Edexcel courses.
A-level & International A Level Physics Tuition
Specialist tuition across the full range of A-level and International A Level Physics topics. Support can include mechanics, electricity, waves, fields, nuclear and particle physics, as well as the mathematical and practical skills required at this level.
As an experienced A-level Physics teacher and examiner, I can also help students understand what examination questions are asking and how to construct accurate, well-developed answers.
Exam Preparation & Technique
Knowing the Physics is only part of succeeding in an examination. Sessions can include targeted work on past-paper questions, calculations, extended responses, practical skills and examination technique.
Students are encouraged to understand why an answer is correct rather than simply memorising a method.
Maths for Physics
Many students understand the underlying Physics but lose confidence when mathematics is involved. Tuition can include focused support with rearranging equations, graphs, proportional reasoning, standard form, units and multi-stage calculations.
BTEC & Vocational Science
Support is also available for students studying the Physics content within BTEC Applied Science and other vocational science qualifications.
How Online Tuition Works
Sessions take place online using Microsoft Teams, allowing students to learn from home while still working interactively with me throughout the session.
We also use Writeboard as a shared online workspace. This allows us to work through calculations, diagrams, graphs and examination questions together in real time.
Students retain access to their Writeboard after the lesson, providing a useful record of worked examples and explanations that they can revisit when revising or completing independent work.
A Personal Approach
Every student is different, so tuition is tailored to their individual needs. Some students need help with a particular topic, while others benefit from regular support throughout their course.
Sessions focus on developing understanding and confidence, while identifying and addressing any gaps in knowledge. The aim is not simply to answer questions, but to help students become more confident and independent physicists.

GCSE & IGCSE Physics
£30 per hour
Block of four one-hour lessons: £110
A-level & International A Level Physics
£40 per hour
Block of four one-hour lessons: £150
